Welcome, Andrew Burger!
We are thrilled to welcome Andrew Burger as the fourth conductor in the history of the Octavo Singers. A native of Niskayuna, NY, Andrew brings with him an accomplished CV, the highlights of which include posts as Adjunct Professor and former Director of Choruses at RPI, and Chorus Director for the Albany Symphony. He studied conducting at Bard College under the renowned James Bagwell, where he served as Assistant Conductor and Administrator, conducting the Bard Chamber Singers, Bard Symphonic Chorus, and The Orchestra Now. Among the many large choral-orchestral works he has conducted are Beethoven’s Mass in C, Bach’s Wachet Auf, Durufle’s Requiem, Bruckner’s Te Deum, and Handel’s Messiah. In addition to helming the Octavo Singers, Andrew is Artistic Director of the Northern Berkshire Chorale in Williamstown, MA, and Director of Music Ministries at Niskayuna Reformed Church. While not pursuing his accomplished and varied musical career, Andrew is the foreman and retail manager at his family’s business, a large and thriving vegetable farm and greenhouse in Niskayuna, New York. Many Thanks to Curtis Funk!
After 11 years of directing the Octavo Singers, Curtis Funk has decided to step down from the Artistic Director’s podium. During his tenure, Curtis rehearsed and conducted 26 concerts, including annual performances of Handel’s Messiah, and was instrumental in growing the chorus in both size and sound. Though we will miss him we wish him the best of luck in the future. Join our mailing list!
